RECRUIT is a mobility grant programme that aims to strengthen Danish universities in international competition for top researchers and talents, and to build strong research ecosystems within designated support areas. The programme supports the recruitment of researchers at assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor level to Danish universities. All candidates must be nominated by a Danish university and must be considered excellent at their career level. Research focus must lie within natural and technical sciences, interdisciplinary research, or biotechnology and sustainability.

Candidates must be nominated by a Danish university, which conducts evaluation and selection of candidates to nominate. Each Danish university receives a nomination quota. Only candidates nominated by the university will be considered for funding. Candidates must be considered excellent at their career level. The application process consists of two phases: universities submit a nomination list before the deadline, and nominated candidates then submit applications through the Foundation's NORMA system. The university cannot prioritise among nominated candidates.
The RECRUIT programme offers multiple grant types through open competition. RECRUIT Sabbatical grants are available for both researchers in Denmark going abroad and international researchers coming to Denmark. RECRUIT Extension grants will have guidelines made available in due time. The programme operates on recurring annual calls. Announcement of results for the Autumn 2026 call is expected in late November 2026. Candidates must apply through the Foundation's application and grant management system, NORMA. All grant recipients must comply with applicable legislation, regulations, standards and ethical norms according to the Foundation's General Terms and Conditions.
